Rebecca Anforth

Legal Director

Rebecca is a Legal Director in the firm’s corporate and commercial team and heads the firm’s intellectual property offering.

 

Rebecca advises clients on a range of commercial matters including collaboration agreements, cross-licensing arrangements, supply agreements, outsourcing agreements, franchise agreements, distribution agreements, agency agreements and consumer contracts. She has a particular specialism in intellectual property law and regularly advises clients on brand protection, commercially exploitation of intellectual property rights and infringement claims.  Rebecca also advises clients in the technology sector and prepares software development agreements, SaaS agreements and support agreements on their behalf.

 

Rebecca is also experienced in advising on data protection and helps clients to map their data flows.  Rebecca commonly assists clients with the preparation of data protection policies, privacy notices, data processing agreements and data sharing agreements.

 

Rebecca joined Murrell Associates in January 2012, having previously worked as a solicitor at Foot Anstey LLP and as an in-house solicitor for the international disaster relief charity ShelterBox. Rebecca studied law at the University of Exeter and completed a diploma in European Private Law at the University of Salzburg.

 

In the 2020 Legal 500 guide, Rebecca was highlighted as a ‘Rising Star’ and a ‘Recommended Lawyer’.  In the Legal 500 guide she was noted for her “keen eye for detail” and praised for her “style of communicating and level of IP knowledge”.

 

 

Recent examples of Rebecca’s work include the following:
  • assisting a client with the development of a brand protection strategy by identifying its core trade marks and design rights and submitting design right and trade mark applications on its behalf. The issue of intellectual property protection became a significant consideration for this client after it agreed to sell items through the online fashion giant “ASOS”;
  • advising a client on the creation of its new franchise model and drafting the associated franchise agreements; and
  • advising an energy consultancy on its consumer facing agreements relating to the supply and installation of energy efficient measures.
  • advising on a collaboration agreement between a client and global fashion retailer H&M.
  • advising a client on a commercial participator agreement with one of the largest UK charities.
