Employment law advice for employees

We may specialise in all things business but, as the saying goes, a business is only as good as its employees…

We believe that advising both employers and employees makes us better lawyers all round, giving us a significant tactical advantage in often being able to anticipate arguments that come at us from the other side. We’ve been there too.

Let’s cut to the chase…

Work is often a necessary and inescapable part of life. It is what you do and often, it defines who you are. Although it may not be the most important part of your life, it is likely to be very near to the top. Which is why, when it goes wrong (sometimes seemingly in a relatively minor way) it can cause some strong emotions to come into play, affect your relationships with others and send ripples across every other aspect of your life.

Our aim is to offer you practical, plain English advice and experienced, personal support to help you to better understand your rights and how these can be enforced, whether it’s helping you to identify if you have been bullied or discriminated against, negotiating a settlement agreement exit package or bringing an employment tribunal claim.

Directors and senior employees

Of course our focus is business, which allows us to advise directors and senior employees in a commercial way and in consideration of the wider business context. We are experienced in handling mutually agreed exits and settlement agreements for board-level roles and can competently assist in all areas where shares, incentive schemes and other similar arrangements are involved.

What about the cost?

We believe it’s important to be upfront about the cost from the start and will discuss this with you before any legal costs are incurred. Unfortunately no legal aid is available for employment disputes and, the unavoidable fact is that legal costs in employment disputes can be expensive. We will do our best to help you to keep your costs under control by offering capped and fixed charges during each stage of your matter.

We do not charge for your initial discussion with our specialist employment lawyers and we will discuss with you your funding options and likely legal costs at the outset. However, we wish to be upfront with you that we are not here to be the cheapest on the market. We offer an experienced, high level, personal service which we believe represents excellent value for money.
