Establishing a share option scheme for Celtic Sheepskin & Co Ltd

3rd December 2015

Over the last few months we have been supporting a longstanding client of ours, Celtic Sheepskin & Co Ltd, on the creation of a new enterprise management incentive (EMI) share option plan for the benefit of its employees. Cornwall based Celtic Sheepskin & Co, are one of the largest suppliers of sheepskin footwear, luxury women’s clothing and soft furnishings in the UK. The plan was established to allow senior management to participate in the future success of the Celtic Sheepskin business in a tax efficient way.

Nick Whitworth, co-founder and director of Celtic Sheepskin & Co Ltd asked us to develop the EMI share option plan with him, because he wanted to recognise the crucial role his senior management team played in the development of the business. “Our new share option plan lets us to reward individuals for the contribution they make to the business and allow them to benefit from our ongoing success. Henry’s experience and guidance were invaluable in helping us put together this scheme on time and on budget.”

Henry Maples, a member of our corporate and commercial team who developed the plan with Nick, has seen an increase in demand for share options schemes among our clients in recent months and firmly believes in the benefits they offer to both the business and its employees. They are a great way of incentivising senior management teams to grow the business and align their interests with the owner’s objectives.
