We’re thrilled to announce that Murrell Associates has achieved B Corp certification, joining a growing number of businesses in Cornwall committed to driving positive social and environmental change.
The certification, awarded by non-profit B Lab UK, recognises businesses that meet rigorous standards of accountability and transparency around their impact on workers, customers, the community and the environment.
We underwent a rigorous assessment to evaluate our environmental and social performance in five keyareas; Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers and were noted for:
- A governance structure that prioritises ethical decision-making, and underscores a commitment to contributing positively to the community, clients and the environment.
- A thorough supplier screening process that ensures we work with businesses that align with our ethical standards. We also have a sourcing policy that prioritises local suppliers.
- A commitment to fair pay, and a focus on social mobility and diversity in hiring, ensuring opportunities are open to people from all backgrounds.
- Implementation of green office practices, such as using non-toxic paper products and reducing energy consumption across working practices, whether in-office or remotely.
- Providing paid volunteer days for our team to support local community projects.
A community effort
Our B Corp journey has been a real team effort, with some incredible support from the local business community to help guide us through the certification process. In 2023 we joined the B23 Initiative, run by Wildanet, the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Leap, which brought together like-minded businesses to support one another in their B Corp journeys. Our client Finisterre — a Cornwall-based sustainable clothing brand which achieved B Corp certification in 2018 — offered support and guidance along the way too.
