Hospitality, Food & Drink

From small hotels to large restaurant chains we advise on various legal issues associated with the food, drink and hospitality trade.

The South West has a thriving hospitality, food and drink sector and it is one of the reasons many holidaymakers choose to visit the region. The sector has seen a growing number of artisan producers appear over recent years, alongside the more established and well-known big names. From clotted cream to artisan bread to wine and fish, the region is chock full of fantastic success stories from this sector.
However, it must be said that the industry is not without its challenges. Its nature is both dynamic and fast paced, requiring fast responses to all sorts of issues such as changing consumer tastes, new regulations and issues relating to traceability and transparency to name but a few.

Meet some of our hospitality, food and drink sector clients
Baker Tom
Our food and drink sector clients include Baker Tom Bread, a heart-warming local success story. Baker Tom’s Bread began in Tom’s kitchen in the corner of the South West over 10 years ago when Tom was in his early 20s. Tom baked his of loaves of fresh bread and biked them to his local farm shop. The bread sold out. Soon Tom was delivering freshly baked loaves every day and his bread became the talk of the town. Today Baker Tom has five shops, two cafes and his products are available wholesale throughout Cornwall and Devon.
Another of our clients from this sector is HubBox, a fast-growing chain of premium burger restaurants. Hubbox started in a humble shipping container back in 2012. The idea was to open a novel, one-off food offering, lasting 12 weeks over the festive period. It has now expanded to become rather more than that! It is now an appreciated, here-to-stay brand in the Southwest’s restaurant landscape.
